Whaaa?

Yes indeed I come again with a new digital painting!
Today on the menu, Natalie Portman... kinda.. lol

Well the point was to make a portrait of her, but my portrait skills being what they are, that's what I ended up with. I guess you can say she kind of looks like the original, but at the same time she's rather different.. but ah well, I bet we can all live with it

As some of you know, I'm a Natalie Portman fan, since she started in "The Professional".

I don't usually do paintings of existing and living people (my last Qui-Gon Jinn being one of the few exceptions) but heck, sometimes it's still fun.

This said, the main purpose of this new deviation is not the image itself (although it was fun to do), but the tutorial I am currently preparing.
Yes you heard well, after all this wait since my "Digital painting tutorial", I'm about to come up with the part 2: Painting hair my way.
Hence the flowy and rather large hair style here. I wanted the hair to have as much volume and layers as possible in order to demonstrate my technique of painting hair.
So stay tuned for this, as the tutorial should (hopefully) be on in a couple days.

Lame background, I know, but I don't care really, it wasn't the point

I used a few pictures of Natalie Portman found through man's best friend (aka Goooooogle) in order to make this one.

Photoshop CS3, Intuos2 tablet, I'd say a bit less than 10 hours of actual work. I redid the top/dress a few times until I was kind of satisfied with it, and taking screenshots and notes while painting made things much slower as well..

I still hope you'll like it
